Welcome to the

World of Ashwaa

Where equestrian discipline meets timeless craft. A house built from the arena out.

Our Origins

The story of our Beginnings

Ashwaa began with a simple, uncompromising vision: to bring
the discipline and elegance of the equestrian world into everyday life & fashion. Poonam Virk came to design through instinct - a flair that found its form when she married into a family that had bred horses across four generations. Her husband, Colonel Jagdeep Virk, came to the horse through service: a decorated officer of the 61st Cavalry, perhaps the last active mounted regiment in the world, who spent decades in the sport of polo across more than twenty countries. What started as a passion for the paddock has evolved into a house of craft spanning cashmere drapes, fine leather goods, and fragrances that carry the scent of dawn at the stables.

The fabric is the horse. The motif is the rider

In polo, in dressage, in the quiet partnership of horse and rider, neither leads absolutely. The horse carries power. The rider carries direction. Together they arrive somewhere neither could reach alone. This is the founding principle. The Ashwaa motif, the arc of a polo mallet, the stillness of a dressage horse, the moment of a show jump does not sit on top of the fabric. It emerges from it, placed there in collaboration between maker and material. The fabric is the horse. The motif is the rider. Neither is complete without the other.

We didn’t borrow the horse. We were born with it

Ashwaa does not use the horse as a motif. It uses the horse as a worldview. Equestrian, Polo, Dressage, Show Jumping, the broader culture of the stable and the paddock is not the brand's reference point, it our home. The family has lived this world for generations. The brand did not adopt equestrian as a theme, It grew from people for whom the horse was simply life. This matters in how the collections are conceived. Ashwaa's four design families Polo, Dressage, Show Jumping, and Equestrian are notdecorative categories. Each has its own emotional register, its own aesthetics, its own way of wearing the world.

The Integrity of our Materials

We are fanatical about material, training, and every step of production. The brand took root in the wardrobes of royalty without advertising. Our new ranges will hold to the same standard as the Pashmina that preceded them. Our motifs - a horse dissolving upward into peacock feathers, a head flanked by polo bell and stirrup, the Indian horse-head, the horseshoe border are equestrian. Each one applied by hand, one at a time, out of a life lived with horses. That is what makes them owned, not purchased.
